I’m bringing my cats down here in about a month and I am SO EXCITED! However, I need to share this and get some advice:
The girl who lived here prior had two cats. About a year ago, one mysteriously died - no warning signs. Then, about 8 months after that, the other one mysteriously died as well. I assumed a poisoning of some sort, but she insisted it was “something about the apartment” that killed them. They tested for mold and it came back negative. What could it be? I’ve lived here for two months now and I haven’t felt sick at all. We also have had two dogs here who are fine - but so were the cats before they mysteriously died. The only thing I can think is that the cats both ingested something harmful - however it seems so peculiar that they both passed away while living in this apartment. I think that’s why I’m so scared.
We have seen a few cockroaches around here and have been setting traps for them. Once the cats get here, however - we are going to start doing less-invasive/toxic ways and hopefully wont even have to use anything to deter the pest problem by then.
When our current roommates (and dog) moves out July 1, we are doing a total cleaning of the apartment: top to bottom, sparking, beautiful, germ-free. Do y’all think it will be okay? I would never forgive myself if I brought my cats down here to have them die suddenly. I don’t know what to do.
